Pine trees cloak the slopes of the bay until it meets the shoreline, leading the way to many different coves in this area. Bencik Bay is a popular stop when you are in a cruising in from Bodrum. Located at the end of the peninsula it separates the Hisaronu Gulf from the Gokova Gulf. It is even said that the locals once wanted to dig a tunnel to defend themselves against the Persians. In spite of all their efforts they, unfortunately, were not able to conquer the Persians and were taken over. The bay provides all-around shelter; there are anchor points on both sides for boats to protect themselves from the prevailing wind that might slam them against any rocky patches in the area. Asides from enjoying the sandy beach and taking a quick dip to explore the reef in this bay there is also a state camping ground. Located on the east side of the bay one can set up for an overnight stay and enjoy the buffet restaurant within the camping area. On the next morning, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the scenery amidst the turquoise waters and head back on your cruise to your next destination.
From this bay many you can head to visit the Karacasogut Village, English Port and Longoz Bay.
