Mljet

Mljet is the Southeastern most of all the Dalmatian islands off of Croatia in the Aegean sea it has an overall land area of 54 square kilometres. The west of this beautiful isle is a protected national park covered in pine and oak and it is here on the very northernmost tip of the island that you will find the delightful fishing villages of Pomena also not far from here you can visit the Santa Maria De Meleda Benedictine Monastery and church. There is only a single highway the D120 that runs the length of the island connecting all the villages to the ferry port at Sobra. The island has previously been concurred by both the Greeks and the Romans and each has left their mark on the land, part of the charm of this island is that almost everywhere you look there are ruins to be seen.

The island today with its stunning blue sheltered bays is a haven for the yacht set and has many idyllic places to anchor overnight. The fishing is very good here and many people come here to hike cycle and sea kayak. Not far from Mljet on the mainland is the city of Dubrovnik and not far along the coastal waters the islands of Hvar and Korcula.
