The small city of Makarska, Croatia is due north approximately 152 kilometres from the coastal well-known city of Dubrovnik

Its population is around 14 thousand and the main source of income is the tourism industry, this pretty little city that originated from a fishing village has retained much of its charm, it is nestled against the waters edge of the Aegean sea with both long pebble and sandy beaches. The water here is a royal blue colour the stuff of postcards. The old town centres around Kacic square where most nights you can find live music and a great atmosphere in the many cafes and bars here. There is also a small ferry port here connecting Makarska to the Island of Brac, and the short distance across the water takes approximately 1 hour, and to the east Mount Biokovo dominates the skyline where you will see Golden Eagles soaring overhead.

The nearest international airport to Makarska is found in the city of Split which is 62 kilometres away.
