Istanbul

When you arrive in Turkey, you’ll be warmly greeted at the airport and taken to your hotel. You can check in and unwind or explore the city until you gather with your guide and the rest of the group in the hotel lobby at 7:00 PM. From there, we’ll enjoy an evening stroll through Taksim Square and Istiklal Street, taking the second-oldest metro in the world.

After touring panoramic Taksim Square and Istiklal Street, prepare to experience the Magic of Turkish Tavern Night in the historic Cicek Pasajı (Flower Passage )and immerse yourself in an unforgettable evening. The Cicek Pasajı (Flower Passage) was built initially on the site of the Naum Theatre, which was destroyed by fire in 1870; it was transformed into a bustling passage filled with flower shops by Russian emigres in the early 20th century. Today, it is a lively spot known for its restaurants, cafes, and vibrant atmosphere. The architecture is striking, with a blend of European styles reflecting its storied past. Prepare to enjoy a delightful selection of traditional mezes, tasty kebabs, and enticing desserts crafted from fresh ingredients and treasured recipes.

After a couple of rounds of the Turkish drink Raki, you’ll be ready to groove to the rhythms of street musicians. Later, feel free to mingle and bond with the group at a relaxed gathering in local bars.

Blue Mosque

The Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is one of Istanbul's most recognisable landmarks. Constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the tenure of Sultan Ahmed I, the mosque is renowned for its magnificent blue Iznik tiles that grace its interior. The mosque boasts six minarets and a large central dome, representing a pinnacle of Ottoman architectural achievement. The mosque is conveniently situated near the Hagia Sophia, and while it remains an active place of worship, it also welcomes visitors from around the globe.

Hippodrome and Obelisks

The Hippodrome of Constantinople was the Byzantine Empire's social and sporting hub. It hosted high-profile events, including chariot races, public gatherings and ceremonial occasions. The site still boasts notable structures, including the Serpent Column, the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Walled Obelisk, which illustrate the historical significance of the location. These monuments provide insight into the splendour of ancient Constantinople.

Hagia Sophia Mosque

Hagia Sophia, originally constructed as a church in 537 by Emperor Justinian, represents a pinnacle of Byzantine architectural achievement. Subsequently, in 1453, it was transformed into a mosque by the Ottomans and subsequently became a museum in 1935. In 2020, the building was once again converted into a mosque. Hagia Sophia is renowned for its impressive dome, exquisite mosaics and rich history, making it one of Istanbul's most iconic and historically significant landmarks.

Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar, situated in Istanbul, is one of the world's most established and extensive covered markets, having been established in the 15th century. The market boasts over 4,000 shops offering a diverse range of products, including jewellery, carpets, spices and textiles. A vibrant and authentic shopping experience awaits visitors to this bustling hub of trade and culture.

Anzak Cove

Anzac Cove, situated on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Canakkale, is the location where ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) troops disembarked on 25 April 1915, during the Gallipoli Campaign of World War I. The cove became a pivotal point in the conflict, symbolising the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers. Today, it functions as a memorial site, attracting visitors for ANZAC Day commemorations on an annual basis.

The Lone Pine Australian Memorial

The Lone Pine Australian Memorial, situated in Canakkale, Turkey, is a prominent site commemorating the Australian soldiers who participated in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I.
