Sarsala Bay
Sarsala Bay
Sarsala Bay is a hidden gem close to Fethiye and is 11km from Dalaman Airport. The bay is surrounded by densely wooded hillsides. The very first road leading to Sarsala was built in order to move materials from Egypt up to Dalaman. These materials were then used to build the Early 20th Century Egyptian Khedive Abbas Pasha a hunting lodge. However, the French company that was also commissioned to build a railway station in Egypt at the same time confused the sites and built the station in Dalaman instead. The railway station still exists but with no connecting rails. Instead, this road to Sarsala is used to this day and passes the four lakes created by Tersakan River before it reaches the sea. A scenic pebbled beach, Sarsala is very popular with local families with children and it can get very busy on Sundays in the high season. It has a small pier for yachts to tie to and also a restaurant on site. There is also an old marble column ashore where boats now tie.
From this bay your next trip destinations you can consider visiting either the Tersane Island Dockyard, the Yassica Islands or the Flat Islands.
